Tonight all across this great nation of ours, there will be a….
…Burlesque show.
Yes, that’s right, crowds of people will pack into bars, theaters and rec centers to watch individuals take off their clothes. Some may cheer, some may take out their phones, and the majority will drink.
By now you are wondering why we are bringing up burlesque on a blog dedicated to Happy Hour. Well one reason is, majority of the shows are in places that serve alcohol and the second is because we have added a local burlesque calendar to ours. Oh, just in case you didn’t know already, local to us is Las Vegas. But you don’t have to be local to attend. Just be ready to have a good time and fairly cheap drinks!
You will find the calendar on the right hand side of this page and of course HERE!
What’s fun about these local productions is that someone knows someone. For example, the show tonight at the Baobab Stage will be hosted by Blanche Debris. She has appeared in Menopause the Musical, Magic Mike, and produced and stared in Miss Margarida’s Way. She is also one of the featured hosts at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender.
It’s not uncommon to have performers from popular shows on the strip stop by. For $15 we have seen aerialist from Cirque, the balloon girl from Absinthe, a professional hula-hoopist, and top named comedians.
A Playboy Bunny or two have also graced our stage along with a operatic soloist.
Yes, you read that right, the girl sings opera while stripping. Proof that there is culture in this town.
Have you had a chance to see a local show? Not just burlesque but any. We’d love to hear about it at our next meeting! RSVP HERE!
