This was the last post created for the Happy Hour Gang. When we were active, we were active. We had new people coming joining, our regulars were excited about each new venue we explored, and it didn’t seem like we were ever going to stop. Then just as fast as it started, it stopped. Hopefully, we will get back to doing more meetings. Until then, enjoy the lost blog post about our meet-up at the now-closed Laundry’s.

According to Wikipedia, “Happy Hour” might have been created in the sense of a scheduled period of entertainment by the US Navy. In early 1913, a group of “home makers” called the “Happy Hour Social” organized “semi-weekly smokers” on board USS Arkansas. The name “Happy Hour Club,” “Happy Hour Social Club,” and similar variants, had been in use as the names of social clubs, primarily by women’s social clubs, since at least the early 1880s.
4 women, that’s all who attended our meeting today and trust me, it was not bad. There was a lot of laughter, catching up, food, and drinks. Out of our little group, only 2 have ever been to Landry’s, and the others plan to come back with their significant others for dinner.
Our waitress for this evening was Krissy. Upon asking her how to spell her name, she said, “Normally people spell it A-M-A-Z- wait is that right? AMAZING, because that’s what I am!” We liked her immediately. She brought us great drinks including a Pomegranate martini with a half-sugar rim that was just to die for. It was not overly sweet and sugary but had a great tang that created a perfect effect of satisfaction and wanting more. We did, thank you very much! At $6 each, we couldn’t resist.
For food, we had Calamari, Buffalo Chicken Sliders, Edamame, Fried Crab Balls and Fried Green Tomatoes. Yes, we fed an army. Relatively good and absolutely filing.
UPDATE 06/06/2018: This post was supposed to be finished over a year ago, but life took over as it often does.
It’s sad to hear that this location closed a few months after our visit. The atmosphere and service were both an experience we will never forget and disappointed we won’t be able to go back.
I still remember this day and the way we connected over food and drinks. Besides, isn’t that what happy hour is all about?
